(UPLAND, Ind.) — lots of graduates and faculty have protested the selection of Vice President Mike Pence since the commencement speaker in Taylor University in Indiana by walking out moments before his debut.

The Indianapolis Star reports the protesters in dresses and caps rose and softly walked down the aisle and out of the auditorium at the Kesler Student Activities Center at the university at Upland, Indiana.

The demonstration was intended and discussed prior to Saturday’therefore ceremony. Students and some faculty at the Christian liberal arts faculty and the appropriateness of the Indiana governor at the initiation ceremony debated.

Most of Taylor’s graduating class didn’t leave. Pence received a standing ovation.

Graduate Laura Rathburn said Pence’s “presence may make it difficult for everyone in Taylor to feel energized. ”
