Public-health England (PHE) said that the victims were among six patients influenced in England along with the deaths occurred in Manchester and Liverpool.

Sandwiches and salads in The fantastic Food Chain linked to the outbreak have been pulled and production ceased.

A spokesperson for the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust said it offered its own”deepest condolences to the bereaved families” and”sincerely regret” both of these seriously ill patients contracted listeria.

The hope, that would not say when the deaths occurred, said the sandwiches were out of the patient menu.

Aintree Hospital said:”Public health experts advised us with the distribution chain dilemma on Friday 24 May and we instantly eliminated all services and products from this supplier.”

Dr Nick Phin, deputy manager at the National Infection Service in PHE said:”currently there have been no associated cases identified outside healthcare businesses, along with some danger to the public is low.”

PHE explained The Good food-chain was given meat created by North Country Cooked Meats which afterward produced a positive test result because of its outbreak strain of listeria.

This business and North Country Quality Foods, that it distributes through, have also systematically ceased production.

A spokesman for The Good Food Chain Ltd stated the organization’s production centre in Stone, Staffordshire, was”cross contaminated by means of an ingredient in among its own approved meat providers”.

The BBC has contacted North Country Quality Foods such as remark.

Listeria is a bacteria that may cause a sort of food poisoning called listeriosis.

However, these cases occurred in people who were severely sick.

Along side expectant mothers, toddlers infants and seniors, they have been most at risk of a more serious disease that may spread to the brain or blood flow.

Listeria is located in various types of food such as soft cheeses, chilled ready-to-eat foods like pre packed sandwiches, salads and sliced meats, along with unpasteurised milk products.
