A college student desired to carry potential predators on Tinder down. He introduced as a teen girl with Snap Chat’s new gender filter — and ended up grabbing a cop allegedly seeking to hook up with a little. 

Ethan, a 20-year-old from the San Francisco Bay Area, used the Snap Chat filter to pose as a 16-year-old girl named Esther. He created a Tinder account as being a 19-year-old girl, however, he was conveying using San Mateo Officer Robert Davies being a 16-year-old, authorities state. 

San Jose police detained the 40-year-old San Mateo officer last Thursday for allegedly communicating with a slight with the aim of engaging in sexual activity. He was booked into Santa Clara County Jail.

Police say the 2 initially discussed on Tinder in early May, before shifting into Kik Messenger and after that Snapchat. According to authorities, Davies acknowledged he was speaking to a little, continuing to talk on Snap Chat about engaging in sexual activity. 

Ethan, referred to as a”concerned citizen,” tipped authorities off to Davies, who was detained a week ago after a lengthy investigation. Police say Ethan managed to investigate Davies later their conversations and find out his identity.

The San Mateo Police Department explained that Davies was off responsibility in another county when the conversations occurred. He is on paid administrative leave. 

“This alleged conduct, if true, is in no way a manifestation of all we endure a Department, also is an affront to the tenets of the department and our livelihood as a whole,” San Mateo Police Chief Susan Manheimer said in a statement. “As San Mateo police officers, we’ve sworn an oath to serve and protect our communities. I can assure you that people stay loyal to the devotion to serving our community with’Professionalism, Integrity, and Excellence.’
