Manufactured in Space has recently beams in 2017, when it used. This, obviously, is another challenge altogether — if things go wrong it’s introducing along side a scarcity of individual support.
This could be the start of another phase of a partnership between both businesses. If successful, it might alter many others and NASA approach building and fixing spacecraft. This could lead to building spacecraft (albeit smaller ones in this point ) in orbit, clearly, but it might also let space agencies launch small satellites which receive high power collectors once they are floating above Earth. It might also lead to fewer spacewalks with things which would need individual involvement are built by robots. Star Trek-like orbital shipyards continue to be a longlong way away, but this demonstration is actually a step in the perfect direction.
