Anthropic on October 2, 2026 announced Claude Frontier Academy, a company-backed training program aimed at the enterprise AI talent gap. In its primary news post, Anthropic said the Academy is backed by a $100 million commitment and is designed to train 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers (FDEs) by the end of 2027. The first cohorts include engineers from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, and Novo Nordisk. Steve Corfield, Anthropic’s global head of business development and partnerships, framed the goal as building customer and partner engineers who can take Claude from an idea to a production system, not just earn generic certifications.
The Academy’s first track is the Frontier Deployed Engineer Residency, which Anthropic says follows a medical-style training model: learn from practitioners, practice on realistic cases, then earn a credential after assessment. Organizations nominate hands-on software engineers who already have strong fundamentals and LLM-building experience; each nominee arrives with a named Claude project to lead when they return. The residency begins with a multi-day in-person program with Anthropic engineers and licensed instructors, including a simulated enterprise deployment from use-case selection through security review and handover, ending in a graded practical. Engineers who pass earn a Claude Resident Engineer badge and enter a 12-week residency leading a real Claude use case at their own organization with Anthropic support. A second assessment at the end of those 12 weeks can earn the Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer badge, with the first badges expected in early 2027.
Anthropic said cohorts are already running in San Francisco, New York, and London, and that participation is by nomination through Anthropic account or partner account teams. The company positions Frontier Academy as a deeper layer on top of the Claude Partner Network, where it says professionals across 46,000 firms have earned more than 175,000 Claude certifications and nearly 4,000 people have completed Basecamp, an immersive onboarding-style curriculum. CNBC and CRN independently reported the same $100 million commitment, 10,000-engineer target, residency structure, and early-2027 credential timeline on October 2.
DigiEditorial verified the launch against Anthropic’s October 2 Claude Frontier Academy announcement as the primary source, with corroboration from CNBC and CRN. Dollar commitment, headcount targets, cohort employers, residency length, badge names, city locations, and Partner Network certification counts are company disclosures or secondary reporting of those disclosures. Eligibility remains nomination-only; DigiEditorial has not independently audited training outcomes or the first early-2027 badge awards.
