Anthropic has opened a Personal Finance hub inside Claude that lets paid US subscribers securely connect their financial accounts and ask ordinary-language questions about balances, spending, and bills. The company said the beta begins rolling out this week on the Pro, Max, and Ultra plans in the United States, with account links handled by Plaid so Claude never asks for or sees a bank password.

Access is deliberately narrow. Anthropic and Plaid both emphasize that Claude’s connection is read-only: Personal Finance cannot move, manage, or invest money, and it is not designed to give investment advice. For the accounts a user chooses to share, Claude can see the bank’s name, each account’s name, type, and last four digits, balances and credit limits, and up to two years of transactions. Help Center guidance adds that Claude reads balances and credit limits for investments, loans, and cards — not holdings, trades, rates, or terms.

In practice, the feature is aimed at everyday clarity rather than trading. Anthropic’s announcement walks through prompts such as “Where did my money go this month?”, whether spending is higher than usual, what is left before payday, or whether anything looks off across connected accounts. Claude can sort spending by category, flag easy-to-miss duplicates or creeping fees, explain terms like APR with the user’s own interest totals, and build charts or dashboards the user can keep adjusting. There are no ads or sponsored product recommendations, and Claude does not offer its own credit cards, loans, or savings accounts.

Privacy framing is central to the launch. Conversations inside the Personal Finance hub are not used to train Anthropic’s models; chats outside the hub still follow the user’s existing privacy settings. Users authenticate through Plaid, can unlink an account at any time (or disconnect Claude at my.plaid.com), and Anthropic notes that Claude can make mistakes — so important figures should be checked against the bank’s own statements. The Help Center says the hub is available on Claude web, Desktop, iOS, and Android, is US-only, is not on Free, Team, or Enterprise plans, and can link up to 16 banks.

Plaid’s November 5, 2026 post confirms it is powering the account connections, organizing and refreshing transaction data so Claude can answer with the user’s real numbers. Independent coverage from The Verge matches the announcement timing, the Pro/Max/Ultra US beta, the read-only Plaid bridge, and the two-year transaction window. Anthropic describes Personal Finance as a first step and says bigger money decisions are still best made with licensed professionals and regulated firms, while inviting banks and wealth managers to help shape what comes next.
